Not only is the food fantastic, but the day is packed with activities everyone can enjoy! The day long celebration of the Ukrainian faith, heritage and culture begins at 11 am with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.
Upon exiting the Liturgy the picnic grounds come alive with the sound of polka! Paul Konkus, of WPPA AM 1360, will have a live broadcast from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Paul has filled our homes with traditional Polka music for many years.
With spirits running high, and moods light from the energizing sounds of polka, from 1:00-3:00 pm , Kazka, the Ukrainian Folk Ensemble, takes the stage. Kazka consists of a vocal quartet, and a twenty five member dance ensemble. The music is a blend that encompasses contemporary as well as traditional Ukrainian. The music is brought to life with the additional dimension of the dance performance. Authenticity in the both the choreography and costume is essential. Since 1987, Kazka has traveled the world, and received numerous awards and much prestige.
We’ll then continue with more of the songs we know and love. From 4:00-8:00 pm, the John Stevens’ Doubleshot Polka Band takes the stage.
